Lausell gets Washington board position

NPRC’s elects new executive officers

Washington, D.C. – The National Puerto Rican Coalition Inc. (NPRC) announced Monday the election on local businessman  Miguel D. Lausell as board of directors chairman of the non-profit community lobby group in the nation's capitol.

Lausell and other executives for the NPRC were elected by proclamation, said said Rafael A. Fantauzzi,  the organization's president. These include Lydia Valencia as vice chair; Jaime Areizaga as treasurer, and Albert Collazo as secretary. 

"The new leadership is committed to developing a five (5) year strategic vision for the organization and will be actively enlisting high profile/high impact leaders from the Puerto Rican communities on the mainland and the Island and engage them via a Puerto Rican Leadership Council," Fantauzzi added.

Their one year terms will begin on January 1st 2010. 

 “NPRC is the primary civil rights non-partisan public policy organization representing the Puerto Rican community in Washington D.C. The strength of our organization is our ability to advocate for our community on critical issues that affect our constituents like health care reform, education reform, corporate social responsibility, economic development, and voting rights," said  Lausell in a press release.


NPRC’s current Board of Directors also includes Soraya Rodriguez-Balzac, Moreno, Luis Bacó, Mario Acosta-Velez, Jeffrey Farrow, Norelie Garcia, Daniel Diaz,  Roberto Prats-Palerm and Ronald Blackburn as directors.


“Our board is strongly committed to the mission of the organization, this new leadership will help align the community’s need with the capacities of the organization in order to effectively produce much needed change.” said Fantauzzi.
