Exit of Education Secretary appears to be true
Sources said the secretary, who has been criticized over the past few months over the numerous problems taking place in the island's public schools, may be leaving Dec. 31.
A radio station has reported that La Fortaleza is already looking for his successor.
Among the names that have been mentioned are Caguas Educational Region Director Elia Colón Berlingueri as well as a former chancellor who now works for the private sector.
Also mentioned is Elín Cintrón, president of the School Principal and Administrators Organization,
Teachers Association President Aida Díaz said Education may be put on the federal government's black list over its mismanagement of federal funds.
Diaz told reporters that Chardon has already tendered his letter of resignation.
