Dorado stages Puerto Rico Day parade
The municipality of Dorado will commemorate Discovery Day in Puerto Rico with a colorful parade to coincide with the renauguration of the "Luis Muñoz Marín Government Center", city hall officials announced Monday.
There will also be an exhibit dedicated to former First Lady Inés María Mendoza, titled "A woman worth her words".
Mayor Carlos A. López Rivera said the event will kick off on Nov. 18, a day before the Discovery Day in Puerto Rico nd the exhibit will be on until Feb 18 of next year.
The day's events will start at 5:00 p.m at the Government Center, located on Méndez Vigo street, near the town center.
López Rivera said a parade will march along Méndez Vigo and end at the monument that commemorates former governor Muñoz Marín raising the Commonwealth flag, on July 25, 1952.
Music will be by the Elías Lópes "Trumpet with Troubadours" orchestra, along with local folk singer, Mariano Cotto.
The center houses an exhibition about Mrs. Mendoza's life work as teacher and first lady.
